Alternative Playlist

I’m forming a band! And since I made the initiative, I won’t hold any auditions for the Rhythm Guitar part. Coz I will be doing that!! Hahahah my rules my style! :P Now I’m going back to my Mrs. Sepia (my guitar) for some practice. And it’s good bye long nails again (still hello nail polish, hello kalyo!)

Well the band is kinda complete already. I know that lead vocals is really what I wanted ever since because it’s the part with the most shining moments. Haha. Yet, I chose Rhythms because I feel more like a rocker superstar with a guitar on. Besides, my vocal talent is really not that powerful-american-idol-ish type. And since I feel that I’m only a beginner with the guitar stuff, I think it’s better to concentrate there. Though I’m still open for the female lead vocalĀ  for the female songs

We decided that our genre would be alternative (or was it me who dictated that?? hahah). I would want an all-pinoy alternative type but there would be foreigners in the audience (naks!). The group’s assignment is a set list… I wonder if this playlist in my mind would be ok for the group… Some of these songs I already tried playing. Some are like my national anthem.. Gosh I have a lot of studying to do…

1. Here without you (3 Doors Down)
2. Lips of an Angel (Hinder) – I hate the lyrics of this song but the melody is just really goood
3. Over you (Daughtry)
4. Follow you down (Gin Blossoms)
- Good luck for me, never tried playing this yet
5. Best I ever had (Vertical Horizon)
6. Couldn’t ask for more (Edwin McCain)
– but of course!
7. This side (Nickelback)
8. How to save a life (The Fray)
– this is a special request from our Band Manager (double naks!), and I do like this song too
9. No Rain (Blind Melon) - Fine! I’m old. This is the 90s!!
10. Under the Bridge (Red Hot Chili Peppah) - and another one bites the dust. Hello 90s!!
11. In my place (Coldplay)
12. Losing my Religion (REM)

13. Every little thing (Dishwalla)
14. Stolen (Dashboard Confessional)

… and more!

I wanted to include any Alanis songs, some Imago and Mojofly songs… coz those were the songs that I really had played and sung with. Let’s see… Any more suggestions…? * Mich, my rocker friend, help me out here! :P *

Btw, let me divert from alternative for a while coz here’s my LSS of the moment… Been studying the chords too… Will post my guitar video  until I memorize this. :D

Sara Bareilles - King of Anything

Notes:
 -CAPO 1ST FRET!
 -While playing verses on the
4th beat while playing the F
us pick the bass note (E|-1-|)
and then on the and of four
  walk down to a G (E|-3-|)
-Picking the bass note and then
  playing the higher strings of
the chords work just fine for a
  strumming pattern
 -Numbers above chords are which
beat the chord is played on
-The bridge is a little hard to
  "get down" but keep practicing
it and listen to the drummers
  crash cymbals that's when you
  change chords
-you can play this without a capo
but then there are a lot of
#'s and b's this tab is kids or
new players who can't do bar chords

Rawr!

Laugh Trip!!! Galing!

Me likey!

You know how much I love Chris Brown’s Forever. Andrew Garcia made me love the song even more…

The sound of the violin made it so majestic… like you’re in a Royal Ball, dancing with your prince. And you’re the only two people moving in the speed of light into eternitythe night is the night you’re in the middle of ecstasy… feeling the melody and the rhythm of the music around… Awww

The heat is ON!

Making up for being away from my sweet-little-online-crib for a lousy couple of days, I thought, a change of scenery (and theme) is the way to go! I was experimenting with new themes available… Since the mood these days is hot and sticky (coz it’s so summer already), I mostly liked the red-bikini-clad ass as my header, but I changed my mind.

For now, I sticked with a simple one, less inquiries, less hotness, less skin ;)

And, finally my guitar is in-tune!! Some angel from heaven tuned it for me. When I got home, it was already there, waiting for me to touch her, feel her… ;)

So here I am, clad in my most unflattering night suit, scaring the neighbors with my god-given talent…

Defying Gravity

Here’s one of the songs in Glee. This was unfamiliar to me before. Until that episode, Wheels, it’s the song that’s been playing in my head.

Something has changed within me,
Something is not the same.
I’m through with playing by the rules
Of someone else’s game.

Too late for second-guessing,
Too late to go back to sleep.
It’s time to trust my instincts,
Close my eyes and leap.

It’s time to try
Defying gravity
I think I’ll try
Defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye I’m
Defying Gravity
And you won’t bring me down…

I’m through accepting limits
‘Cause someone says they’re so.

Some things I cannot change,
But till I try, I’ll never know.

Too long I’ve been afraid of

Losing love I guess I’ve lost.

Well, if that’s love,
It comes at much too high a cost!

I’d sooner buy
Defying gravity.
Kiss me goodbye,
I’m defying gravity.
I think I’ll try
Defying Gravity
And you won’t bring me down.

I’d sooner buy
Defying gravity.
Kiss me goodbye,
I’m defying gravity.
I think I’ll try
Defying Gravity

And you won’t bring me down.
..Bring me down!

My heart dropped too, when Kurt didn’t hit that note… :(

I suddenly missed my Guitar

I think it was mid last year when I decided to grow my nails (coz of that new addiction called nail polish). Hence my guitar, Mrs Sepia, spent her days in the closet for the last 6 months. So sad.

You see, I still feel that I’m a beginner when it comes to guitar-playing. It’s a big hobby. I play the guitar when I felt playing, or when I feel like making a video of myself (since I’m narcisstic as always, or plainly a show-off to my friends  ). But I didn’t really get to practice.

Anyway, here are the last stretch of videos I made. I failed to upload these before. Good thing I have backups. I had more in my other site in me.com. Unfortunately, I didn’t renew there hence I could not access my videos. I should have used youtube. :(

It’s my time to shine!

Here are some excerpts of my *ehem* shining moments :)

Special Thanks to the sweetest fruity pal of them all… APOL! … for taking these videos!

My friends told me that I look shy singing here… And they also said that it’s not me they’re seeing… they told me that I looked more natural on our videoke sessions. I tried to justify the shy-ness, although I really admit that I was quite shy… I’m just being too careful not to be hyperactive too much and still end up out-of-tune…

Watching the video made me think that I truly was a little different. I knew I’ve been a performer ever since (in company events, mostly). So honestly I want to do it again, and perform as myself (as in remove the “shyness”/”nervousness”) and just enjoy the whole gig (no matter how-out-of-tune I’d become). But too late for that already.

So here is my shining moment, maybe a little rough on most parts but exceptional (at least for me) :D more »

My That is so 70s show!

It’s a live concert organized by my rocker boss. As I’ve said here, I’m just an extra but they still gave me my shining moments..

They asked me to sing “Yesterday once more” first, then “Proud Mary” (whew God bless us all!)… And more songs from the 70s… which I know by heart apparently – “You can’t hurry love” and “Hot Stuff”. I also did backups for Yumiko-san, the main vocalist. Some songs which I really loved to do backups with (and to sing as well) – “It’s too late” and “Let it be”. Although I did not do anything with the latter because I didn’t want to ruin the mood. It’s also a bad idea to do backups with that song because I just want to listen.

Thanks to all the friends who came! To the latecomers who weren’t able to watch my stint, sorry… as I’ve said, great things start from humble beginnings… I haven’t conquered the main show yet. Maybe next time, I’ll be the main act! Nevertheless, I really felt special! *teary eyes* I hope there’ll be another one.

Ok.. let the photos do the talking… my good good friend apol, had some of my songs on video. But I won’t be publishing it yet else it might turn into another scandal

The Last Rehearsals :(

Yesterday, I was partly sad because it was our last rehearsals already.

I really had fun with this band. And very thankful too because I was given the chance of a lifetime to perform onstage. With matching all the works – rehearsals, tickets, etc. Though my role isn’t that sensational compared to the real vocalist, I am still proud to be the extra vocalist slash tambourine girl slash chuwariwariwap girl. I feel so happy listening to our 13-track CD, and gawd I could hear my voice! It’s ugly compared to the main vocalist. I sound so terrible in the CD! But I have this sick excuse of not being the professional singer… or the most popular line every time they tell me I’m out of tune – “Sumimasen, bando wa hajimete desu.” – not so correct japanese but I mean something like, “It’s my first time to sing in a band”. Hehehe. All the members are probably not professionals as well, since they are engineers like me too, but they are really good on what they’re doing. I appreciate so much that they adjusted the music tempo and the pitch of my songs for me! :) Haay. Hot Stuff yeah!
